About me
Hi, I'm Dan and I'm a freelance graphic designer based in London and Bedfordshire, specialising in digital, interaction and product design. For over 17 years, I’ve created engaging brands and award-winning digital experiences for big names, such as Tesco, Lloyds Banking Group and O2, and aspiring start-ups like Eargym.
I’ve designed websites and mobile apps, complex enterprise tools and intuitive design systems, transforming how my clients operate and interact with their customers. I’ve also led and helped to build successful in-house design teams, fostering a creative and collaborative environment to deliver effectively against business objectives.
I also enjoy mentoring and helping other designers and have previously worked with undergraduate graphic design students.
Over the years I’ve worked alongside some of the best people in the industry. I started out at Agency Republic and Syzygy, working with the likes of O2, Mazda and Green & Black's.
In 2012, I set up Collier Design, running my own design studio for 11 years. I was lucky enough to work with a range of clients, including agencies, M&C Saatchi, Work Club, ELSE, Ideas Made, Poke, Weir + Wong and Bros&Co, and start-ups like Eargym and Huski.
Between 2014 and 2018, I worked with Lloyds Banking Group to improve digital customer experience for Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland, redesigning internet banking and then leading design in their machine intelligrence programme.
In 2018, I began a working with Tesco, helping to transform how Britain’s biggest retailer runs their business. I created and then led the Enterprise Design System and was Design Lead for a suite of 15 enterprise applications used by colleagues and suppliers.
I also spent a year working with the design leadership team at BP, working on their design system and creating a playbook for their design teams around the world.
My work has been featured in many design publications and exhibitions. In 2011, one of my personal projects, Typographic Links, was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and in 2007, right at the start of my career, I was named Best New Blood by D&AD.
I graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2007 with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. I still hold strong links with the course and have been invited back to lecture and work on projects with the students on a number of occasions. I am also a fellow of the Lincoln Société de Design Typographique.
Away from design, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Annie and our two children, Joshua and Grace. I'm also a long-suffering season ticket holder at Luton Town FC and previously ran a fans' website for several years.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. If you have any ideas, projects or opportunities you'd like to discuss, please get in touch.
