About me
Hi, I’m Dan — a graphic designer specialising in digital, interaction and product design.
For 19 years, I’ve designed and delivered high-impact products, engaging brands and award-winning digital experiences for organisations including Tesco, Lloyds Bank and O2, as well as ambitious start-ups such as Eargym and Huski.
My work sits at the intersection of hands-on craft and strategic design thinking. I’ve led the design of websites, mobile apps, large-scale enterprise tools and robust design systems, helping organisations transform how they operate and how users engage with their products.
Alongside my individual contribution, I’ve built and led successful design teams — setting design direction, mentoring designers and fostering collaborative environments that consistently deliver against business objectives.
I began my career at Agency Republic and Syzygy in London, working with brands such as O2, Mazda and Green & Black’s, before founding my own studio Collier Design in 2012. Over the following 11 years, I was lucky enough to work with a range of clients, including agencies, M&C Saatchi, Work Club, ELSE, Ideas Made, Poke, Weir + Wong and Bros&Co, and a number of SMEs and start-ups.
Between 2014 and 2018, I worked with Lloyds Banking Group to improve digital customer experience for Lloyds Bank, Halifax and Bank of Scotland. This included redesigning internet banking platforms and later leading design for their machine intelligence programme.
In 2018, I began working with Tesco, helping to transform how Britain’s biggest retailer runs its commercial business. I created and led the Enterprise Design System and was Design Lead for a suite of 15 enterprise applications used by Tesco colleagues and suppliers.
More recently, I spent a year working with BP’s design leadership team, contributing to their design system and creating a global playbook to support design teams around the world.
My work has been recognised with industry awards and featured in leading design publications and exhibitions. Highlights include my project Typographic Links being exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, and being named Best New Blood by D&AD.
I graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2007 with a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design and continue to maintain close ties with the course, regularly returning to lecture and collaborate with students. I’m also a Fellow of the Lincoln Société de Design Typographique.
Away from design, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Annie and our two children, Joshua and Grace. I’m also a long-suffering season ticket holder at Luton Town FC and previously ran a fans’ website for several years.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. If you have a project, idea or opportunity you’d like to discuss, I’d love to hear from you.
