The Thomas Parker Award

I was both shocked and honoured to receive the Thomas Parker Award at the Lincoln School of Art & Design degree show on Friday evening. I really wasn't expecting anything and even when Barrie began to introduce me at the Private View, I thought perhaps I was to present an award to a student.

The special award  was to mark the University of Lincoln's last year at Thomas Parker House. The Graphic Design course, along with the rest of the school, will move to a purpose-built building on the main university campus, at Brayford Pool, later this year.

It was fantastic to be back in Lincoln and was great to catch up with fellow alumni, members of the Lincoln Societié de Design Typographique and of course, Barrie and Philippa. We also welcomed three new members to the exclusive LSDT club.

Mazda.co.uk wins 2013 Best Web Design award

I was very pleased to hear that the Mazda.co.uk website I designed while at Syzygy London has won the Best Web Design Award at the Autotrader 2013 Click Awards.

The award is the UK automotive industry's leading digital awards and are judged by real customers and industry experts. This year almost 10,000 customers participated with the final judging panel comprising of experts from Google, Nokia and Twitter.

Congratulations to the rest of the team at Syzygy London and Mazda Europe.

Typographic Links features in this month's Science magazine, produced by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The image is used as part of a review of Manual Lima's excellent Visual Complexity book.
