Disappearing work…

Today I’ve had to remove a large case study and many images from across my portfolio website. It’s a series of projects I spent many years creating for a well known brand, but this week their legal representatives have contacted me to say I don’t have the right to ‘wrongly imply I have a legitimate affiliation’ to them.

Personally I think there’s something not quite right about treating people who have dedicated so much time to a organisation in this way, but frustratingly there’s little I can do about it. If you’re familiar with my work you’ll be able to work out who it is.

Like most designers I need to display a selection of my work so that I can showcase my abilities in order to gain new clients. I try my best to only display images of my work that I have permission to show or that are already in the public domain. Frustratingly, there is so much more I would like to share, but most of my current work is under NDA or not public-facing.

I think the time has probably come to rethink the idea of a personal portfolio website and rely on other methods to share my work. I’ll be putting aside some time to think about this over the coming weeks. Watch this space…
